DO NOT apply this oil directly to the skin without being diluted in a carrier oil first! 

Use 5-30 drops essential oil to 1 oz carrier oil

Melissa Lemonbalm Essential Oil

Botanical Name:  Melissa Officinalis

Family:  Lamiaceae

Blends with: The citrus herbaceous fragrance of Melissa blends well with lavender, geranium, and most other floral or citrus oils

 

Effects on the mind

Melissa is a wonderful oil for soothing all states of nervousness, hysteria, irritability and great anger.  It has a powerful calming sedative almost hypnotic effect on the nervous system creating a sense of euphoria.

Effects on the body

  • Use balm tea to relieve cramps, dyspepsia, flatulence, colic, liver, spleen, bladder troubles, chronic bronchial catarrh, and some forms of asthma.

  • May be used during pregnancy, for headaches, tension, and dizziness.

  • Use in massage as a chest rub for treatment of colds, bronchitis, and severe coughs

Effects on the spirit

Soothes the angry spirit.

Special Precautions

  • Non Toxic - Possible sensitization and dermal irritation: use in low dilution only.

  • One of the most frequently adulterated oils. Most commercial so-called Melissa contains some or all of the following: lemon, lemongrass, or citronella.
